Privacy Policy
Last updated: March 17, 2026
Welcome to LocalTools (the "Site", "we", or "us"). We understand that your personal information and business data, such as images, documents, and text, are extremely important to you. Therefore, we design our product around a core principle: process locally whenever possible and avoid uploading files. This Privacy Policy explains what we do, what we do not do, and what choices you have.
1. What information do we collect?
Short answer: we collect little to no identifiable information.
- Your files and content: When you use our tools, such as image compression or format conversion, the files you add or process are not uploaded to our servers. Reading, processing, and exporting are performed locally in your browser. We do not view, store, or sell your file contents.
- Basic anonymous analytics (optional): To improve reliability and diagnose issues, we may use third-party anonymous analytics or performance monitoring. These services may collect non-identifying data such as device type, browser type, coarse region, visited pages, and load timings. This data is used for statistics and optimization only and does not include the files you process in the tools.
2. Client-side only processing
Our proud core idea is simple: your data belongs to you.
Many conventional tool sites require uploading files to a cloud server, which can introduce potential leakage risks. LocalTools keeps processing in your browser: your original files and generated outputs typically exist only briefly in device memory and local storage. When you close the browser tab or refresh, temporary in-process data is released.
3. Cookies and similar technologies
We may use necessary cookies or local storage for basic operation, for example remembering preferences. If the site displays ads via third-party ad networks such as Google AdSense, those third parties may use cookies or similar technologies to deliver ads, personalized or non-personalized depending on your region and settings.
You can manage or reject non-essential cookies in your browser settings, and manage personalized ad preferences via Google's ad settings. Disabling some cookies may affect parts of the experience.
4. Data sharing and disclosure
Because we do not collect your user files or identity-confirming information, such as name or account email, we generally have no such data to share with government agencies, advertisers, or other commercial entities, except limited anonymous analytics handled by independent service providers as described above.
5. Links to third-party sites
The site may include links to third-party websites, such as official pages of open-source libraries or ad landing pages. This policy applies only to your use of LocalTools. When you leave our site, the third party's privacy policy applies, and we recommend you read it before proceeding.
6. Your rights
Since we do not store your processed files, you retain full control over your data stored on your own device. For anonymous analytics, you can manage tracking by enabling Do Not Track in your browser or using privacy protection extensions.
7. Children's privacy
This site is not intended for children under the applicable legal age. We do not knowingly collect children's personal information. If you believe information has been submitted improperly, please contact us so we can address it.
8. Updates to this policy
We may update this policy as features evolve or laws change. Updates take effect when the Last updated date on this page is changed. Continued use of the site indicates that you understand and accept the updated policy.
